MULCH

Many home owners know that mulch reduces weeds and helps retain soil moisture. Mulch also gives your gardens a manicured professional look.

Helpful facts about Mulch:

All mulch applications should be at least three to four inches deep in order to help deter weeds and maintain soil moisture
All mulches should be topped up yearly as it is an organic material and will need replenishing over time. The decomposition process improves soil quality and fertility. To keep your plant beds looking their best, top up with two to three inches of fresh mulch (right over top of your old mulch) every spring
Mulch color will fade over time due to sun exposure. To freshen it up throughout the year, turn it over with a pitch fork
To improve your gardens DO NOT use weed barrier fabric under your mulch and on top of your soil. Having no fabric there allows the mulch to decompose and thus adding humus organic matter back into your soil. This will also improve the fertility of root zones and aid in keeping the roots cool and moist during the hot summer months
Occasionally, all mulches can form spots on the surface which made look like yellow slimy mold – some refer to it as “dog vomit mould” – if the mulch is wet and has brown dust, do not worry, it will dry up and blow away over time. You can also remove it with a shovel

Our Shredded Pine Mulch is a customer favourite. This product is a unique, un-dyed mulch derived from freshly ground pine bark. It is a bi-product of the Canadian forest industry and blends beautifully into any landscape. Plus, it smells amazing!
